Senegal becomes first African Country to qualify for Round 16
African Champions, Senegal known as the ‘Terenga Lions’ become the first African country ro qualify to the knock out stage of the World Cup.
The ‘Terenga Lions’ booked their place after beating Ecuador in their last Group A match with a victory of 2-1.
Senegalese and Watford star Ismaila Sarr converted a penalty in the 44th minutes to give them the lead but Ecuadorians levelled it at the early stage of the second half.
However, Skipper, Kalidou Koulibaly rescue the ‘Terenga Lions’ with a strike in the box of the Ecuadorians to seal a spot in the round of 16 .
Netherlands placed first with 7pts in Group A, with host nation Qatar finished at the bottom recording zero points.
