Published

on

Lady Annie-Ann Dodoo, Founder and CEO of Shenona Foundation and Youth Empowerment Advocate, has officially unveiled the Shenona foundation to the public, introducing a vision centred on teenage pregnancy prevention, youth empowerment and support for young people and young and single mothers.

Although the public unveiling is taking place today, Shenona Foundation has already begun implementing some of its objectives through engagements and outreach activities focused on young people and communities.

Lady Annie-Ann Dodoo is the driving force behind the vision of Shenona Foundation.
Shenona Foundation is more than just an organisation. Shenona carries a story, a purpose and a message.
Born from a life-based experience and built on the belief that every young person and every young mother has the potential to rise, rebuild and become the hero of their story, Shenona exists as a beacon of hope, renewal, strength and guidance.
Through education, empowerment, mentorship, outreach, advocacy and support, Shenona Foundation seeks to help young people and young mothers recognise their worth, take charge of their lives and embrace the possibilities ahead.
Behind this vision is a woman who believes that if she could rise above her own challenges, others can rise too.

Shenona Foundation focuses on teenage pregnancy prevention, education and the empowerment of young people and young mothers.
Its activities include school and community outreach, reproductive health and teenage pregnancy prevention education, mentorship, mental wellness and self-worth education, healthy decision-making programmes, skills training and empowerment for young and single mothers, self-defence training, family planning awareness, community initiatives, partnerships and advocacy for stronger attention to teenage pregnancy prevention.
The foundation’s work is driven through four flagship programmes: Shenona Choices, Shenona Rise, Shenona Cares and Shenona Connect.
Through these programmes, Shenona Foundation seeks to educate, empower, support and create opportunities for young people and young mothers to recognise their potential and take charge of their lives and future.
The foundation also believes that meaningful change requires collective effort and therefore seeks to work with schools, families, communities, institutions, organisations, businesses, professionals and other stakeholders to strengthen its programmes and expand its impact.

For Lady Annie-Ann Dodoo and Shenona Foundation, the conversation around teenage pregnancy must go beyond statistics.
Teenage pregnancy is more than a statistic. Behind every statistic is a young person with dreams, potential and a future.
Shenona Foundation believes that young people and young mothers should not be defined by their circumstances. With the right support, guidance, education and opportunities, they can regain hope, discover their strength and begin again.
The foundation’s message also extends to anyone who may feel that their story has already been determined by their past.
Your story is not over. You are not defined by your circumstance. You can rise, rebuild and become who you are meant to be.
This belief is captured in Shenona Foundation’s message:
You are the hero of your story.
Lady Annie-Ann Dodoo and the Shenona Foundation invite individuals, institutions, organisations, businesses and communities to join them on this journey to create lasting impact.
Together, we can help more young people and young mothers find hope, discover their strength and become the heroes of their stories.
