Egypt to face Senegal at the grand finale of AFCON 2021

Egypt has qualified to the finals of the AFCON 2021 as the Pharaohs beats Cameroon today in a penalty shootout during a tough semi-final match.

The match which ended in a goalies after the total ninety minutes of play saw the defeat of the host nation during penalty shootouts after the extra time.

During the penalty shootout, Egypt won by three (3) goals to one (1) against Cameroon.

Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah will go up against Reds team-mate Sadio Mane in the final of this year’s Africa Cup of Nations after Egypt overcame the challenge posed by Cameroon in their last-four clash on Thursday evening. The Pharaohs will face Senegal for the coveted trophy on Sunday in a match that will see two of the Premier League’s best wingers go head-to-head for continental glory.

A sad incident which occurred during the full time of play was when Egyptian coaches Carlos Queiroz and Roger De Sà suffered red and yellow cards respectively during the second half of the match.

The second semi-final match of 2021 African Cup of Nations between Egypt and host nation Cameroon has proven to be one of the toughest matches in the tournament so far.

The Pharaohs of Egypt led by team captain Mohammed Sala were poised and highly optimistic to qualify to face Senegal in the grand finale but the host nation, Cameroon  really proved to be unstoppable as the team also yearned to  win the tournament to make their newly elected FA President Samuel Eto’o proud.

Before the ninety minutes of play, Gambian referee Victor Gomes gave the Egyptian National team coach Carlos Queiroz red card which sent him off the pitch.

Carlos Queiroz’s red card was followed with a yellow card which was issued to his assistant Roger De Sà.

Before this semi-final match, the Egyptian Football Federation protested against the Gambian referee who was chosen to officiate the match.

Regardless of these red and yellow cards issued  to the Egyptian coaches, the Pharaohs managed to win during a penalty shootout.

Egypt will be facing Senegal on Sunday, 6th February, 2022 for the final match of the AFCON 2021. This is going to be a tough match between Mohammed Sala and Sadio Mane.
