Candyman to host “Asaase Nitro Avenue” a new show on Asaase Radio 100.3 FM in Cape Coast

After the official launch of the forth branch of Asaase Radio in Cape Coast, Sintim Media released an alleged list of renowned on-air personalities who have been poached to Asaase Radio 100.3 FM.

One of the leading radio presenters on the list was Candyman of Darling FM. Today, Sintim Media through Ghana Weekend confirms Candyman’s new appointment as host of a new show on Asaase Radio dubbed “Asaase Nitro Avenue”

Media personality Lucas Candid Mensah, popularly known as Candyman has found a new home after resigning from Angel Broadcasting Network’s Darling 90.9 FM in Cape Coast a few weeks ago.

He will be hosting the after-drive programme dubbed ‘Asaase Nitro Avenue’ on Asaase 100.3 FM in Cape Coast.

Since the launch of the station in Cape Coast, some renowned broadcasters in the region have joined the Central Region branch of the media company.

Jimmy Kutin, former Business Manager of Darling FM, is now the General Manager of Asaase FM – Cape Coast.

Others are Nyanis Addo (from Kingdom FM), Nana Ama Egyirba, DJ Index (Cape FM), DJ Konya (Darling FM), Kofi Owusu (Darling FM), Raza Swaggy (ATL FM), among others.

At Darling FM (formerly Sompa FM),  Candyman was the drive-time host and the station’s events manager.

Candyman has professionally worked in the media and events space in the Central Region for over 10 years.

Candyman has worked at Radio Valco, Dr. Nduom’s Elmina-based Ahomka 99.5FM, Sompa FM, and holds a diploma in Mass Media and Communication from Cambridge International College in the United Kingdom.

The versatile presenter once a sports broadcaster was listed and rewarded among 60 young Ghanaians by Coca Cola in 2017 when Ghana was celebrating its 60th independence anniversary.

He also won an RTP as the Best Radio Personality (Central Region) in 2019.

In his quest to offer endless support to these determined musicians, he started the only regional-based music awards scheme; Obama City Music Awards now Central Music Awards in 2011 in the studios of Sompa 90.9FM.

The concept of the awards has been replicated across almost all the regions in Ghana.

With determination, the power to do, and hard work, Candymann has successfully carved a niche for himself as the go-to person as far as entertainment is concerned in Cape Coast.

Candyman Lucas Mensah to Sponsor Central Music Awards’ New Artiste of the Year Category with GH¢5,000

Renowned Ghanaian media personality and Founder of the Central Music Awards (CMA), Mr. Candyman Lucas Mensah, has pledged GH¢5,000 in sponsorship for the New Artiste of the Year category at the 15th Central Music Awards.

Mr. Mensah made the announcement during the 15th CMA Seminar held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Samrit Hotel in Cape Coast ahead of the 15th Anniversary Celebration of the prestigious Central Music Awards.

Speaking on the topic, “From an Idea to a Movement: The CMA Journey at 15,” Mr. Mensah reflected on the experiences that led to the establishment of the Central Music Awards, highlighting the challenges, achievements and lessons from the awards’ 15-year journey.

He also outlined his vision for the continued growth of the awards scheme, particularly its role in identifying, nurturing and promoting emerging musical talents from the Central Region to compete at higher levels.

Announcing the sponsorship, Mr. Mensah said his contribution was driven by his commitment to supporting emerging artistes and creating opportunities for young talents within the region.

The sponsorship will support the New Artiste of the Year category as part of activities marking the 15th anniversary of the Central Music Awards.

The seminar, held under the theme “Celebrating the Journey, Taking Stock, Building Tomorrow,”brought together musicians, artiste managers, media personalities, bloggers, content creators, event organisers and other key stakeholders in the creative industry from across the Central Region’s 22 districts.

The programme featured presentations by creative industry professionals and academics, including Dr. Margaret Delali Numekevor, Lecturer at the Department of Music and Dance, University of Cape Coast, and Nana Ekua Apeatsewah II, former Chairperson of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Central Region.

The seminar was moderated by Mr. Bismark Botchwey, Deputy Communications Executive at Heritage Promotions.

The annual CMA seminar provides a platform for creatives to gain knowledge and practical insights into developing their craft, strengthening their brands, building professional networks and promoting their work to meet international standards.
