AOB District Science & Maths Quiz 2022 – Who Wins The Grand Finale ?

The 2022 edition of the annual  Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District Science & Maths Quiz has been educative, entertaining and interesting as 125 basic schools within the District participated in the Quiz Competition.

Odoben T.I Ahmadiyya, Ave Maria, Asikuma Methodist ‘B’ and Asikuma Presby qualify for the Grand Finale of the 2022 AOB District Science & Maths Quiz

The preliminary stage of the competition which begun on Wednesday 20th to Monday 25th July 2022 had participating schools grouped into four. That is; Jamra/Asikuma “B” Circuits, Kuntanase/Odoben Circuits, Asikuma “A”/Anhwiam Circuits and Brakwa/Kokomo Circuits.

At the end of the preliminary stage of the competition, 32 schools out of the 125 basic schools qualified for the Round of 32 contest of which 16 schools qualified for the quarter final stage.

The quarter finals saw 16 promising basic schools battle it out to secure a place in the semi-final contest.

At the end of the quarter finals contest, eight (8) basic schools including; Asikuma Promising Star, Asikuma Methodist “B”, Kuntanase Royal School Complex, Odoben T.I Ahmadiyya, Asikuma Ave Maria, Asikuma Presby, Brakwa ENMESCO and Brakwa-Kokoso Islamic “B” qualified for the semi-final stage of the competition.

The semi-final stage of the competition saw the qualified schools grouped into two (2) with Asikuma Ave Maria, Odoben T.I Ahmadiyya, Brakwa ENMESCO and Kuntanase Royal battled it out in Group A.

Group B of the semi-final stage had a tough contest between Asikuma Methodist “B”, Asikuma Presby, Asikuma Promising Star and Brakwa – Kokoso Islamic basic school.

In accordance to the rules governing the quiz competition, the top two schools from each group qualify for the grande finale.

With regards to this rule, at the end of the semi-finals contest, Asikuma Ave Maria  topped group A with 52 points, Odoben T.I Ahmadiyya placed second with 40points.

Brakwa ENMESCO placed third with 30points while Kuntanase Royal School Complex placed fourth with 20points.

Based on the results from the Group A semi-final contest, Asikuma Ave Maria and Odoben T.I. Ahmadiyya basic school qualified to the final stage of the competition.

The Group B contest of the Semi finals had Asikuma Methodist “B” and Asikuma Presby qualify to the final stage of the competition.

The results from the Group B contest saw Asikuma Methodist placing 1st with 42points, Asikuma Presby placing 2nd with 41points, Asikuma Promising Star placing 3rd with 38points and Brakwa-Kokoso Islamic School securing the last position with 25points.

  1. Asikuma Ave Maira
  2. Odoben T.I Ahmadiyya
  3. Asikuma Methodist “B”
  4. Asikuma Presby 

    Odoben T.I Ahmadiyya, Ave Maria, Asikuma Methodist ‘B’ and Asikuma Presby qualify for the Grand Finale of the 2022 AOB District Science & Maths Quiz

The contestants for Odoben T.I Ahmadiyya JHS are:

1. Jessica Asare
2. Joycelyn Acquah
3. Constance Dora Obeng Baffoe

Contestants for Asikuma Ave Maria are: 

1. Nana Yaw Ampofo Kwegya
2. Paulina Owusu Appiah

Contestant for Asikuma Methodist “B” are:

1. Francis Ayisi Asare
2. Florence Asiedu

Contestants for Asikuma Presby are:


1. Eric Mensah
2. Alfreda Ennu

The Grand finale of the competition is slated for Friday, 5th August 2022 at the Breman Asikuma Presby Church at exactly 3:00 PM

Hon. Olivia Bentil Commissions 2-Unit KG Block and Mechanized Borehole, Advancing Development in Amoanda

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District, Hon. Olivia Bentil, has commissioned a newly completed 2-unit Kindergarten (KG) block with ancillary facilities and a mechanized borehole at Amoanda, describing the projects as another demonstration of the NDC government’s commitment to improving education and the welfare of communities.

The projects reflect the development agenda of H.E. John Dramani Mahama’s administration, which continues to prioritize quality education, access to safe drinking water and equitable infrastructure development across the country.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Olivia Bentil said the facilities reaffirm the government’s determination to invest in the future of Ghanaian children by creating a safe and conducive environment for teaching and learning while improving access to essential social services.

She commended President John Dramani Mahama for his strong commitment to strengthening Ghana’s education sector and ensuring that no community is left behind in the country’s development agenda.

The DCE also acknowledged the tireless efforts of the Member of Parliament for the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa Constituency, Hon. Alhaji Alhassan Kobina Ghansah, for his continuous advocacy and collaboration with the District Assembly to attract development projects that are improving the lives of constituents.

Hon. Olivia Bentil urged parents, teachers and community members to take ownership of the new facilities by maintaining them to ensure they serve generations of schoolchildren.

The newly commissioned 2-unit KG block is expected to provide a more conducive learning environment for kindergarten pupils, while the mechanized borehole will supply Amoanda and surrounding communities with clean and reliable drinking water, further advancing the NDC government’s vision of inclusive and sustainable development.
