Stonebwoy Bounces Back To Win 3 Awards At The 23rd Edition of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards

Ghanaian multiple award winning Raggae/ Afro-Dancehall and Universal Music Group, Def Jam Africa signee Stonebwoy has returned to the Ghana’s most prestigious award Vodafone Ghana Music Award (VGMA).

The event held at Grand Arena saw Stonebwoy winning a treble at the night.

Stonebwoy who was banned at the 2019 ceremony following the gun-pulling incident with Shatta Wale won three awards at the new night since his return.

He won the “Music for God” award which a honouring award that goes to the best song, lyrics and possibly a project or a Video, that promote social good.

Stonebwoy doubled by winning “The Vodafone Green Award” which was introduced by Vodafone Ghana to acknowledge and support musicians who use their crafts to drive environmental awareness and sustainability of the planet.

And lastly won the Raggae/Dancehall artiste of the year award which was won by Epixode last year (2021) and Ras Kuuku in 2020.

This makes Stonebwoy winning the award for the 6th time in history of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

VGMA24 Unsung – Call for entries begins!

One of Africa’s biggest music festivals, the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards has over the years catered for Artistes, Producers and Instruments. The scheme has also rewarded varied industry stakeholders for their contributions to the music of Ghana.

The scheme introduced a new category called the Unsung Initiative in 2014 with the sole purpose of giving upcoming artiste the opportunity to breakthrough. To further boost their career, the winner is given the opportunity to perform live on the biggest stage at the Vodafone Ghana music awards stage.

Organizers of the Award scheme, Charterhouse has officially opened nominations for the Unsung Initiative.

The following are the process one can earn nomination. As is being done every year is simple; post a picture of your favorite upcoming artiste across all social media platforms, tag them and add the hashtag #VGMA24UNSUNG.

The artistes with the highest number of tags stands the chance of getting nominated in the unsung initiative and subsequently in the race for the ultimate.

The initiative has propelled the careers of some of Ghana’s most respected artistes; MzVee, Dark Suburb, Adomaa, Kuami Eugene, Kelvynboy, Kula, Teflon Flexx and Nanky have been the winners since its inception.

Deadline date for entries slated for Monday, March 6, 2023.
