Stonebwoy’s GIMPA Graduation Sparks Controversy and Congratulations

Yesterday, July 26, 2024, Stonebwoy, the renowned Ghanaian musician, graduated from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) with a Second-Class Upper degree in Public Administration.
The news sparked a flurry of congratulatory messages from his fans, known as the Bhim Nation, who flooded the internet with well-wishes.

However, not everyone was pleased with Stonebwoy’s achievement. Some netizens, including bloggers and social media influencers like Bongo Ideas and Gideon Ofori, cast doubt on the credibility of his certificate, alleging that it was purchased.
These claims sparked controversy and prompted a response from Jimmy Kutin, Branch Manager of Asaase Radio 100.3 Cape Coast and a lecturer at GIMPA-Takoradi Campus.

On his official Facebook page, Kutin wrote: “You cannot buy a GIMPA certificate. It is simply not possible. I know because I have taught at GIMPA for 11 years and graduated students since 2016. Please, stop the nonsense.”
Kutin’s statement aimed to quell the rumors and reaffirm the integrity of GIMPA’s certification process. Stonebwoy’s achievement is a testament to his hard work and dedication to his education, and he joins a list of distinguished colleague artistes like Samini, Edem, Okyeame Kwame, and Becca who have secured degrees while pursuing their music careers.

Born to a Liberian father and Ghanaian mother, Rock’s journey began in Liberia, where he spent his early years before relocating to Ghana in 2003 amidst the civil war.
He continued his education in Greater Accra, discovering his passion for music during his junior high school days at Oblogo D/A 1 JHS from 2003 to 2006 in Greater Accra, where he stayed with his aunt.
As a student at Sammo Senior High School in Cape Coast, Rock’s talent flourished, earning him a reputation as a skilled singer and dancer. He later became the entertainment prefect, setting the stage for his future success.

Pursuing a degree in Mathematics Education at the University of Education, Winneba, Rock connected with like-minded friends and officially launched his music career. Rock’s dedication to his craft led him to become the Entertainment Committee Chairman of his department.
During his national service in 2014, he met Eka One, a renowned sound engineer, in Assin Bereku. he collaborated with Eka One, and their partnership has been instrumental in his growth. Notable producers, including DatBeatGod and Eka One, played a pivotal role in shaping his sound.

Social media introduced him to Whisko, a US-based Liberian artist and businessman, who signed Rock to Unlymyted Entertainment in 2022, with Eka One as his manager in Ghana.
By day, Iam Rock serves as a professional teacher under the Ghana Education Service, but by night, he brings his vibrant energy to the stage.
Rock’s latest single, “Alewa,” produced by Eka One and directed by Dvice Keyz, showcases his artistry. He has eight tracks to his credit which includes; Romantic, Dah Lady, Charm, Bany, Alewa, Heat, Follow and Am Not A W-Rapper.
