Sekondi-Takoradi MCE granted GH¢100,000 bail after assaulting police officer

The Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly(STMA), Abdul-Mumin Issah, has been granted a GH¢100,000 bail with 3 sureties after charged for allegedly assaulting a police officer who confronted him for dangerous driving.

The Takoradi Habour Circuit Court A presided over by his Worship, Michael Kwadwoe Ampadu warned the MCE and said “The offenses are bailable, but I want to first sound a word of caution without saying the Mayor is guilty. Any person or group of persons who attempt to prevent the security agencies to perform their duties is not a friend of the State. Not because he is guilty, but the fact that he is standing in the box makes me disappointed…Having said that, I grant him a bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with three sureties and adjourn the case to 17th March” 2022.

The MCE was charged on three (3) counts of Assault of a public officer, Offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace, and disturbing the peace in a public place contrary to Sections 205, 207, and 298 respectively, of the Criminal and Other Offences Act of 1960, Act 29.

He has also been charged for dangerous driving contrary to Section 1 of Act 683 of 2004 as amended by Act 761 of 2008.

According to a statement from the police, Abdul-Mumin Issah is being investigated for an “alleged motor traffic offense, verbal assault and offensive conduct against a police officer who was performing his lawful duty.”

The MCE was overheard in an exchange with an on-duty police officer for insisting that he [MCE] joins the queue in traffic.

But the MCE who wasn’t happy assaulted the police officer verbally.

He said “You are stupid, you ugly policeman, you say a whole police officer, you are nothing, don’t worry let him play his king kong thing, I have exercised patience for you to call whoever is coming, I could just pass by and there is nothing he can do. If I decide to pass by what else can you do? But I have been patient enough which you have called to come and take me to headquarters. I could have just drove there, go(sic) and you can do whatever you want to do tomorrow morning and it won’t get anywhere.”

The hardworking youth organizer and Board Chairman of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) on Monday, May 9, 2022 took to his official Facebook page to announce his commencement of campaign as the next National Organizer for NPP.

In his official communique, Nana B outlined ten  (10) convincing strategic organizational plan that seek to strengthen the mobilization process of party faithfuls in helping break the eight (8) resoundingly.

On his official Facebook page, this is what Nana B wrote;

For Immediate Release

At the outset, I would want to congratulate all party faithfuls who have be elected to various positions at the polling station, electoral area and constituency levels and wish unsuccessful aspirants better luck next time. I encourage all stakeholders to bury their differences and in unison, work assiduously to strengthen the party at the base to consolidate our electoral gains.

It’s almost 4 years since the noble NPP delegates gave me the mandate to serve the youth in Koforidua. Collectively, we have made giant strides in building a much vibrant youth wing that is results-driven as evident in the youth led emphatic Presidential elections victory chalked in 2020. I wholeheartedly express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to this great legacy.

In July this year, the party will, once again, go to Conference to elect National Officers to lead the party for the next 4 years. Respectfully, I’m putting myself up to be elected as National Organizer of our party when the time is due. I have made this informed decision, premised on the enormous experience and relevant skills set I have acquired coupled with proven track record whiles rising through the ranks – from Polling Station, TESCON, Constituency, Region to my current position as National Youth Organizer.

Consequently, I would commence my nationwide campaign tour this week in Ashanti Region where I will meet newly elected and appointed Constituency Officers to put forth my vision and set of objectives as I seek to be the next National Organizer of NPP.

Let me hasten to add that my campaign would be totally clean and decorous devoid of insults or disrespect or personal attacks whatsoever. I have great confidence in my track record and I’m fully convinced that my message crafted around a 10 Point Strategic Plan, outlined below, under the theme *”Strategic Organisation for NPP’s Sustained growth & success”* will resonate with delegates and the rank and file:

1. Developing an all inclusive & Participatory activity Master Plan

2. Operation Recapture Lost Seat

3. Strategic communication built on solid organisation & training

4 Resource & Logistic Mobilisation

5. A Stronger Volunteer/identifiable group Management System

6 Continuous training and capacity Building Programme

7. Special Wings (Youth, Women & Nasara ) Outreach Programmes

8. Strengthening the Party’s Membership Drive Efforts

9. Digitization (Operational & organisational feedback system)

10. Strengthening Diaspora Party Activities and Programmes

In conclusion, I bring to the table rich and trusted experience in organization and leadership, and with a clear proven performance the organizational arm of the NPP under my watch will help deliver victory to our party people in 2024.

Thank you.
