The former National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency took to his official facebook page to express his heartfelt concerns about the state of the Komenda Sugar factory.
Mr. Dumelo elaborated that, when given the mandate, he will revive the sugar factory and start producing sugar within 16 months.
The young politician further revealed that, the Komenda sugar factory needs about 200,000 tons of sugarcane to operate at full capacity.
On his official Facebook page this is what the NDC 2020 parliamentary candidate wrote;

“I can revive the Komenda sugar factory if given the mandate. That factory will start producing sugar within 16 months( considering planting and harvesting of sugarcane). The factory needs about 200,000 tons of sugarcane(pa) to operate at full capacity. We can do it!”
The Komenda Sugar Factory, which was built at a cost of $35 million from an Indian EXIM Bank facility, was inaugurated by former President John Mahama in May 2016, amid pomp and pageantry but was locked after a few test runs 3 Jun 2020.
The $35 Million processing factory has not been utilized for the past 5 years after its inauguration. Many citizens have raised concerns and criticized the incumbent governments inability to revive the factory as it rolls out its 1 District 1 Factory policy.
The factory when revived will create numerous jobs for the youth in central region hence reducing the unemployment and poverty rate in the region and in the country at large.
