Asaase Radio Cape Coast has officially unveiled lined-up activities for its cherished listeners and followers as part of celebrating Fetu Afahye at 60.
The soft launch, which was aired live from the Cape Coast studio, was also transmitted live in Accra on Asaase 99.5 , AsaasePa 107.3 , online on Facebook and on the World Wide Web.
This was to make a statement to the world on Asaase Cape Coast’s readiness as a media house to bring to the doorstep of our audience a comprehensive coverage and showcase of the culture and tradition of the people of Oguaa as they mark the biggest festival on the calendar of Central Region and Ghana.
The 2024 edition is in its diamond jubilee and also coincides with the 25th anniversary celebration of the coronation of Oguaamanhen Osabarimba, Kwesi Atta II.
Charlotte Osei Esq, chairperson of the Afahye at 60 planning committee and former chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, was present at the launch, as were representatives from the Ghana Tourism Authority, Ghana Hoteliers Association, Tour Operators Union of Ghana, the Oguaa Traditional Council and renowned bloggers & social media influencers in Cape Coast.

Speaking to Nana Ama Egyirba on Thursday (1 August), Osei was optimistic that this year’s festival will make a difference and a statement to the world, especially with the arrival of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll, as the special guest of honour.

Fetu Afahye is an annual festival celebrated on the first Saturday of September by the chiefs and people of Cape Coast.
As part of the activities lined up, Asaase Radio has packaged features on the history of Oguaa, including the 77 gods of Oguaa, their names and what they stand for, the seven Asafo companies and what they are made of, interviews with traditional leaders, cultural performances and more on Between Hours with Nyaniba.
The excitement about the festival will also be served in various contents that include ,”The Fetu Bulletin,” “The Best Fetu Afahye has to Offer,” as well as profiles of personalities in Cape Coast who have ensured the sustainability of the festival.This will be captured by host Razza Swaggy.
A comprehensive live coverage of the colourful procession of chiefs, queen mothers, Asafo companies, etc., as well as live coverage of the grand durbar from the jubilee park, will be brought to our audience and listeners with live reportage and commentary by Nana Ama Egyirba and Kofi Owusu Opabene. This places us in a good and strategic business position as a station with the voice of our land.

Speaking at the launch, the branch manager of Asaase Radio-Cape Coast, Jimmy Kutin, said the station is committed to promoting Ghanaian culture, traditions and businesses.
“Fetu Afahye is an important part of our heritage, and we are excited to be a part of it. We have exciting activities lined up for our listeners and clients as well”, he said.
Asaase Radio’s activities for Fetu Afahye will include the Asaase Mask Party, Asaase Jeans Jam, Asaase Jokaad Fufu Party, and live coverage of the Orange Friday carnival.
