Summer on the Hills 2026 Delivers Day-to-Night Party Experience with Seyi Vibez

Published

on

Summer on the Hills returned for its 2026 edition on 23 August at Underbridge Annex in East Legon, with Nigerian music star Seyi Vibez taking centre stage as the headline artiste for a day-to-night party experience designed around music, lifestyle, entertainment and social connection.

Founded by Joey Nasko and Marcus Worthington Lewis, popularly known as Khalifaofaccra (KOA), Summer on the Hills was created on the belief that great music and memorable experiences bring people together. The founders have developed the event as more than a conventional concert, combining live music with games, food, vendors, photo experiences, brand activations, fashion and social spaces.

The 2026 edition began at 4pm and moved from a relaxed daytime atmosphere into a high-energy party rave as the night progressed. The concept gave patrons the opportunity to socialise, explore different experiences and enjoy the music in a setting that blended a calm summer vibe with the energy of a club night.

At the centre of the experience was Seyi Vibez, one of Nigeria’s prominent contemporary street-pop artistes. Born Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi, the Lagos-raised artiste has built a strong following with his blend of Afrobeats, Fuji influences and Yoruba lyricism. His emotionally driven music and distinctive sound have helped him connect with audiences across Nigeria and beyond, making his appearance one of the major attractions of the 2026 edition.

Seyi Vibez was supported by an extensive line-up of Ghanaian DJs, including DJ Millzy, Oj , Dj slay , maleek dj
Dj vigos, DJ Miliki, DJ Wallpaper, DJ Bryant, DJ Speech, DJ KBrown and DJ Freak. The entertainment was further complemented by MCs: Ben Arthur, MC El Chapo, Influence, MC Kayblack, MC Trapper and MC Jerome.

Summer on the Hills is always a success because of its focus on the complete party experience rather than placing all the attention on the headline performance. Patrons could participate in games, take photographs, enjoy food and vendor offerings, spend time in cabana spaces and engage with brand activations before the event transitioned into its night-time club section.

Hennessy was among the brands involved through an activation, had a supporting sponsor KS transport system, while vendors were given an opportunity to connect directly with patrons and generate sales. The organisers also encouraged guests to embrace smart and stylish summer wear, adding a fashion and lifestyle dimension to the event.

Security was supported by B3 Security, alongside personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the military. Underbridge Annex provided a large venue with air-conditioning facilities, accommodating the different components of the event.

The event was hosted by Khalifaofaccra and Nasko, with the founders’ broader vision focused on bringing people together to connect, have fun, socialise and discover something new through entertainment. Big ups to Possigee (Coordinator). Thanks to all bloggers who supported the agenda

The 2026 edition followed the previous year’s event, which was headlined by Ghanaian rapper Kweku Smoke. However, the focus this year was firmly on expanding the experience with an international headline act in Seyi Vibez, we had other supporting artist , BLR BOYS ,LALID,MUYEEZ,further connecting Ghana’s party culture with the wider African music scene.

The response to Summer on the Hills reflects a growing appetite for entertainment experiences that go beyond a stage and a single performance. Its combination of music, games, food, fashion, brand experiences and social interaction allows patrons to spend an extended period within one environment, moving naturally from afternoon relaxation into a full night of entertainment.

For Joey Nasko and Marcus Worthington Lewis, Summer on the Hills represents an opportunity to build a recurring entertainment property that brings together artistes, audiences, brands, vendors and creatives.

As the organisers look ahead to the next chapter, the presale of tickets for the 2027 edition of Summer on the Hills is scheduled to begin next month. The early ticket release signals the organisers’ intention to build on the momentum of the 2026 experience and keep the event firmly on the entertainment calendar.

With anticipation already building for the next edition, Summer on the Hills is moving from a one-day party into an evolving entertainment property, with its founders continuing to explore new ways of bringing music, lifestyle, brands and people together.

Ghanaian musician Emperor T-Jiga has added another major international honour to his career after winning Best Diaspora Afrobeat Artist of the Year at the 2026 Ghana Music Awards Europe in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The recognition comes after years of creating music that blends Afrobeat, highlife, hiplife, hip hop and other African musical influences while connecting audiences in Ghana and the diaspora.

For Emperor T-Jiga, the award is a reflection of a musical journey that has produced a catalogue of songs including Kilode, Yeloi, Sugar, Super Star, Pretty Jeniki, Saka Saka and Fine Fine Lady. His music has continued to showcase his versatility as a singer, songwriter, performer, drummer, producer and teaching artist.

One of the records that has played an important role in his recent recognition is Super Star, featuring Bepor Keddi and Cabrinny Gh. The song previously earned Emperor T-Jiga the Hiplife and Hip Hop Song of the Year award at the 2025 Ghana Music Awards USA, giving him another major milestone within the Ghanaian diaspora music community.

His catalogue, however, extends beyond Super Star.

Yeloi, featuring Kotey Another and Nii Funny, further demonstrated his ability to work across different sounds and collaborators. The song was nominated for Best Music Video of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards USA.

In 2023, Emperor T-Jiga released Sugar, a record influenced by the sounds of African music pioneers including Osibisa and Fela Kuti. The song was subsequently nominated for Afropop/Afrobeat Song of the Year at the 2024 Ghana Music Awards USA.

His more recent work has continued to expand his musical identity. Awula Feefeo has been featured among his recent releases, while his official YouTube catalogue also includes Fine Fine Lady.

Beyond his recordings, Emperor T-Jiga’s musical background gives further context to his sound. He is also an accomplished drummer, dancer, producer and music educator, with a career that has involved African music and cultural education in the United States. His work with the Akwaaba Ensemble has also allowed him to combine performance, education and cultural preservation.

That combination of musicianship and cultural identity has become an important part of Emperor T-Jiga’s artistic journey. His music does not simply seek to entertain but also draws from African rhythms, experiences and influences while presenting them to audiences in the diaspora.
