This year’s annual Homowo festival of the GA STATE took place on the 14th of August 2021.

ABOLA PIAM TUMMA WE, the biggest of all the ruling houses of the GA STATE, performed the customary rites of the sprinkling of kpokpoi to signify the harvest, remembrance, and hooting of hunger, as depicted in the name ” HOMOWO”.

This August, the cardinal ritual of Authority and spiritual fortitude of the kingdom, was duly honored and performed by the REGENT OF ABOLA PIAM TUMMA WE and heir apparent to GA MANTSE throne NII AYIKUMA TIEKU BAAH TACKIE OBLIE II in a colorful and solemn ceremony.

The ceremony started from the Royal house with libation, prayer supplications to the highest GOD ALMIGHTY. OKPLEDZEN, OKLEMEKUKU, MAAWU, OFITE OSSAA by NII MANKRALO OF ABOLA and ASAFOATSE AYITEY, they were ablely supported and accompanied by NII SHIPII ARMAH of ABOLA.

They then moved to the house of NII OKANG OSAIHENE IV, where traditional rites were performed by the GA SEITSE.

The heir apparent, NII GA, took off with his retinue, Asafo group, and youths of ABOLA. The procession then moved to the ancestral houses of the father’s of ABOLA and GA STATE, amid chanting of war songs, firing of musketry dancing, and drumming.

It was a colorful and heartwarming experience to see culture at its best.

All the various houses received the new King with shouts of joy and chanting of appellations wishing him long life and prosperity on the throne and after the exercise, the procession ended back at the Royal house as custom demands a report was made to the elders of ABOLA of the successful traditional rites, libation, supplication, fortifications, and bountiful prayers for Peace, Success, Wealth, and Spiritual Protection for the new King and all who contributed to the Ceremonial rites.

The two custodians of the stool SEITSE and NII SHIPII refreshed the gathering with drinks and the traditional meal Kpokpoi and palm nut soup to the glorification of MAAWU ASAASE AFIA.

According to SEITSE the Ascension to the GA STATE throne by NII AYIKUMA TIEKU BAAH TACKIE OBLIE II, has come at the right time in this our time to put piety to the rightful turn of ABOLA PIAM TUMMA WE, hence his enstoolment to put an end to political ranklings and enudoes that has engulfed and plagued the GA STATE in recent years.

Asante Agona Homecoming Showdown 2024

Asante Agona a suburb in the Ashanti Region of Ghana is gearing up to unveil another chapter of its yearly homecoming festival.

Last year’s event was absolutely massive featuring numerous games including clean-up exercises, jams, sports and other interesting activities. This year’s homecoming showdown is expected to be even bigger.

Osei De King, a renowned Ghanaian hiplife artiste who is the organizer and frontliner of this specific program has ensured that all the necessary arrangements are in place to make the ‘Asante Agona Homecoming Showdown’ a resounding success.

The program is scheduled to commence on March 27th and run through April 1st, 2024, at the Asante Agona Community Centre, the usual venue for the event.

The motive behind this year’s festival is to raise funds for the construction of a dormitory building at the Agona Technical Institute (ATI).

Honorable guests invited include: Nana Agyapa Ameyaw (King Of Bipoa and acting president of Asante Agona Traditional Council),  Nana Akyampomaa Ntansah Yiadom (III) the queen mother of Asante Agona Traditional Area, who is also the host of this festival, Honorable Mavis Nkansah Boadu (MP Afigya Sekyere East/ Deputy Minister For Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration), Nana Nkansah Boadu Ayeboafo (Agric Nzema King), Nana Nimako Bresiama (Asante Agona Boaboduro Bosomfo and GPRTU National Chairman)

Activities will include bonfire night, representing your school’s jersey, learning about Asante Agona’s history, a health walk, clean-up exercises, and more.
