2021 Africa Youth Awards Winners Announced

Secretary-General of the African Law Students Association, Luckson Chibaye (Zambian) and Founder of Dream Factory Foundation, Lusanda Magwape (South African) have both been voted as the 2021 African Youth of the Year in the 2021 Africa Youth Awards.

They emerged as top winners alongside 12 other young African and organizations in the 8th edition of the continental awards scheme created to celebrate young people creating change in their local communities through various actions and initiatives.

The announcement was during a virtual awards ceremony attended by nominees of the 2021 awards and moderated by Africa Youth Awards President, Prince Akpah and Community Manager, Bahati Mgogwe.

Winners of the award were selected through a public voting process after nominees for the various 14 categories were announced and proof of testament of their works and support for the continent’s development.

In his opening speech during a virtual awards ceremony hosted on January 1st 2022, Africa Youth Awards co-founder and COO, Terser Adamu noted that Africa Youth Awards will continue to celebrate young Africans who are dedicated to uplifting the image of the continent through various works to inspire change and help in the development of Africa.

Africa Youth Awards was launched in 2014 as a Pan African awards scheme to honour inspiring young Africans who are championing the development of the continent in diverse fields.

Insiya Mohammed Crowned Miss Musilimah Ghana 2024

It was a night of culture , religion , education, hope, entertainment and great expectations as the nation witnessed a spectacular display of grace, intellect, and cultural pride at the grand finale of Ghana’s all Muslims beauty pageant, Miss Musilimah Ghana .

An annual beauty pageant organized by Cruiz House Events. Held on Saturday night at the Ghana National Theatre,the event attracted community leaders, philanthropists,fashion icons, and families from across the country, all gathered to celebrate young Muslim women showcasing beauty beyond appearance.

During the finale, each contestant presented on a topic close to their heart, ranging from youth empowerment and women’s health to Islamic education, and provided oral evidence for how they intend to carry out these projects. Other performances include cultural displays, favorite verses from the Quran , Hadith , dance , entrepreneurship pitchs , questions and answers etc, all of which culminated to arriving at selecting a winner for the night.

The event climaxed in a heart-stopping moment following the pronouncement of Insiya Mohammed , A 19-years -old change-maker from Bawku, Representing the Bissa tribe as the ultimate winner. Impressing the judges with her articulate responses and community-driven project proposals. In addition to the coveted crown, Insiya walked away with A cash prize , survivors from sponsors , Electrical appliances , a sense of great pride and the bragging rights as Miss Musilimah ghana 2024. The runners up are Asmau Abdul Wakil ,representing the Kotokoli tribe and Hamdiya issifu , representing the Dagomba tribe as First runner and 2nd runners up respectively.

The contestants, over the past few months, participated in leadership training, workshops on entrepreneurship, and various community engagement activities as well as Charity projects to various communities. These roles prepared them adequately to harness the skill of interacting with individuals and ultimately for grand finale

Cruiz House Events, the organization house behind Miss Muslims Ghana, sees a bright future ahead for young Muslim women. Speaking to the media after the event, the CEO , Ms Hawa Alidu emphasized on the importance of opportunity driven platforms as the main motivation behind this years event hence their decision to eliminate public voting which sometimes draws people back. “Plans are already underway to launch community programs led by this year’s contestants, which will focus on education, mentorship, and charity projects across Ghana. “ she added. Organizers are also in discussions about bringing back the pageant for 2025, promising even more impactful experiences for the young Muslim women who participate. She used the opportunity to express her profound gratitude to the event sponsors who availed themselves to support this years journey and called for more sponsors going forward. She also thanked the special guests , judges, chiefs, community enthusiasts as well as families who traveled from far and near to help make this year’s event a successfully memorable.

For Insiya Mohammed and her fellow queens , the journey has only just begun. Their new roles as role models and ambassadors are set to take them across Ghana and beyond, where they’ll engage in community-building initiatives and inspire young Muslim women to embrace their identity and leadership potential.
