“Black Stars must be dissolved” – Portia Nana Akua Pinamang Speaks

Published

on

Portia Nana Akua Pinamang has shared a candid and passionate critique of the current state of the Black Stars, highlighting what she believes to be the core issues affecting the performance of Ghana’s senior national team.

According to Portia, the team’s struggles stem largely from a lack of connection and cohesion among the new players. She notes that unlike the legendary squads of the past, who built strong bonds by playing together from the U-23 level and participating in numerous friendly matches, the current lineup lacks that deep-rooted chemistry. “The old players grew together, played together, and understood each other. That created not just skill, but synergy,” she emphasized.

Portia believes the new generation of players do not demonstrate the teamwork required to deliver consistent results on the international stage. She argues that Ghana must take a bold step by dissolving the current team and rebuilding from the grassroots. In her view, the future of the national team depends on investment in local clubs, where young talents can be nurtured and groomed together over time.

She insists that when players rise through the local system, even after they sign with foreign clubs, they would still “carry Ghana in their hearts”, maintaining their chemistry, understanding, and commitment to the national jersey because of their shared development background.

Portia also expressed disappointment that many of today’s players rarely participate in friendly matches or return home during off-seasons to bond and build the much-needed rapport. “They stay in their clubs and forget the importance of connecting with the national team,” she lamented.

Portia concludes with a heartfelt expression of her disappointment, not only in the Black Stars’ current state but in the leadership decisions she believes contribute to Ghana’s challenges. Her call is clear: rebuild, invest locally, and restore the pride and unity that once defined Ghanaian football.
