Marcelo Leaves Real Madrid After 16 Years
The 34-year-old, who is the most decorated player in Real history with 25 trophies, will leave when his contract expires at the end of June.
He said he is not retiring but did not know where his next club will be.
“Today is the happiest day since I’ve been in Madrid because as I leave I realise I’ve left a legacy,” he said.
Marcelo, who won five Champions Leagues and six La Liga titles during his time at the Bernabeu, was honoured at a special ceremony in recognition of his career.
He was also presented with Real’s gold membership badge by president Florentino Perez.
Marcelo has been linked with Turkish side Fenerbahce and French club Marseille.

Manchester United has officially ended their partnership with manager Erik ten Hag after a difficult period of poor results and rising tension within the club.
Ten Hag, who became manager in 2022, had early success by winning the Carabao Cup and reaching the FA Cup final. However, this past season brought serious problems, with United finishing eighth in the Premier League and leaving the Champions League early.
These struggles led the club’s new owners, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe of INEOS to make this decision.

The club released an official statement, expressing appreciation for Ten Hag’s contributions:
“Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.”
Ruud van Nistelrooy, who joined the club as Ten Hag’s assistant last summer, has been named as interim manager.
Interim head coach van Nistelrooy is considered a United legend, having scored 150 goals in 219 appearances and completed the clean sweep of domestic trophies.
Since retiring as a player in 2013, he has had some coaching experience and most notably won the KNVB Cup during a stint as PSV Eindhoven boss.
