Methodist Girls Senior  High School emerges winners of 2020 World Robotic Competition for the second time 

A delegation from Methodist Senior High School, led by the Headmistress Mrs. Winnifred Seibu Arthur and Mr. Benjamin Amoako, Robotics Patron, presented thirteen (13) second year students in the robotic club who participated and emerged as winners of the World Robotics and Coding Competition organized virtually by Intelik/Robogroup from the USA and Israel to the Director General and Management of the Ghana Education Service.

Methodist Senior High School, Mamfe Akuapem (MEGHIS) has for the second time in a role won the World Robotics and Coding Competition, known as CoderZ Juniors League.

The 2020 virtual edition was contested by five thousand (5000) teams across the world and Robotics Stars from MEGHIS, who won the preliminary contest in Ghana, emerged as World Winners, after going through six (6) competitive stages of the final competition.

The World Robotics and Coding Competition was made up of twelve (12) regional groups from Africa, Europe, Asia, North and South America.

All four (4) sets of teams presented by MEGHIS at the regional level won in their respective zones and accrued the highest points using Method K20 as their coding key.

The operational challenge for the competition, named BasketBot is a robotics and coding competition which allows participants to code robots to draw balls from baskets into their zone. Participants were given a period of one week to code and submit before the final competition.

This competition equips students with knowledge in problem solving, critical thinking, and the use of virtual platforms which is a tool for learning in the 21st Century.

The grand finale was between Methodist Senior High School from Ghana and Avenues FLL MG Team from Avenue World School based in New York, USA.

The Deputy Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, (Quality and Assess) who received the delegation on behalf of the Director General, congratulated the team for emerging as world champions for the second time in succession.

“Your achievement will go down into the archives and your names and that of the school have been written in gold for generations unborn to learn from”. “Keep your heads high and remain focused on your studies as you have already demonstrated your prowess to excel in academic pursuit beyond the shores of Ghana”, the DDG counseled.

Wensah Foundation International Supports Vulnerable New Mother at Sunyani Teaching Hospital

In a heartwarming display of compassion and community support, Wensah Foundation International, a Sunyani-based NGO, has come to the aid of a mentally challenged new mother, Lamisi Tindani, who was detained at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital due to her inability to pay medical bills amounting to after undergoing a successful cesarean section (CS) to deliver a baby boy.

Upon learning of Lamisi’s situation, the Wensah Foundation International team promptly visited the hospital to assess the situation and provide assistance. The very next day, the NGO settled all of Lamisi’s outstanding medical bills, ensuring she could focus on her recovery and caring for her newborn without the burden of financial stress.

In addition to covering the medical expenses, Wensah Foundation International demonstrated its commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals by donating essential items to Lamisi for the well-being of both her and her baby. The mother of the patient received these items with gratitude, expressing heartfelt thanks to the NGO for their kindness and generosity.

The hospital’s is administrator, Mr. Omar, extended his appreciation to Wensah Foundation International for their philanthropic efforts. He encouraged the NGO to continue supporting vulnerable women in society, acknowledging their crucial role in promoting the welfare of those in need.

This act of kindness is consistent with Wensah Foundation International’s mission, which focuses on championing child rights protection and women empowerment. The NGO’s dedication to this cause was recognized in 2021 when it was awarded the Best NGO in Child Protection and Women Empowerment by the Cenba Africa Excellence Awards in Kumasi. Through their actions, Wensah Foundation International continues to make a positive impact in the lives of those who need it most.
