Making Impact With Diplomacy: South African High Commissioner to Ghana Grace Jeanet Mason

For most diplomats, service means everything.

Such is the case of new South African High Commissioner to Ghana Her Excellency Grace Jeanet Mason, who has been hailed for her exceptional start as a representative of her country in Ghana.
She has been busy. After first visiting the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House, she set off on a fact-finding trip across Ghana.
She has so far met with the Asanthene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in Kumasi, traditional leaders in the Northern region and toured different facilities in some industrial zones including Tema.
To celebrate the unity sport and culture brings and the strong relationship between Ghana and South Africa, the High Commissioner arranged a live football viewing session at the High Commission residence, where guests were treated to the Afcon Qualifier between South Africa and Ghana. Amongst the invitees were Ghanaian icon and World Bank’s Climate Change Ambassador, Okyeame Kwame, finance guru Duke Essiam,  UN Ambassador and Glitz founder Claduia Lumor, Businessman Kwabena Kufuor and singing sensation Adina Thembi, who as half Ghanaian, half South African.
She has also visited The Kaya Children Day Center in Madina which is a home for young children from 3 years old. Created 10 years ago by Mama Evelyn, a South African woman and her Ghanaian Husband, the children at the home are mainly that of market women and lack the proper education and daycare as their mothers work many hours a day. A free breast cancer screening for the mothers was also held after a donation of food products and other provisions to last for the whole easter period and beyond. I-Events Ghana, organizers of the maiden edition of Central Entertainment and Business Awards has rescued pupils of Twifo Nuamakurom D/A basic from ‘schooling under trees’

The quest to build a society does not rest on the shoulders of a designated few. It is the collective responsibility of all members to intentionally lay its building blocks to arrive at the shape and structure we so yearn for society to attain.

It is in this light that, we at Central Entertainment and Business Awards (CEBA), have resolved to give back to society, especially to deprived communities in and around Central Region of Ghana, to underpin the rural development agenda. At the same time satisfying the purpose of our two hands-one to help ourselves and the other, society. As education is pivotal in the development of a thriving society we (CEBA) have purposed to eradicate schools under trees; one community at a time.

As part of our corporate social responsibility, we have put smiles right back on the faces of pupils, teachers and the entire community of Twifo Nuamakurom, a suburb village in The Twifo Praso District. Proceeds realized from the just ended maiden edition of CEBA’21 was used to complete a two unit classroom block for the Twifo Nuamakurom Presby D/A School, which, prior to our initiative, had their kindergarten pupils study under trees and at the mercy of the destructive and distracting elements.

This is not going to be a nine day wonder because it is our utmost desire to help alleviate the plight of folks in the hinterlands by tackling the defects in their education, health and every other aspect that adds value to life and our collective existence.

Proceeds gained from every CEBA event will go into helping lessen the burden of inhabitants of impoverished communities in Central Region, not because we have in abundance, but because our brand stands to help alleviate global poverty and together, we ignite the regional vibe.
