Empowering Students, Transforming Communities: Serasa Foundation Officially Launched with Maiden Annual Educational Awards Program 2025

History was made in Agona Odoben as Serasa Foundation was officially launched, alongside the maiden edition of its Annual Educational Awards Program. The event, which brought together educators, stakeholders, traditional leaders, parents, and students, carried the inspiring theme “Empowering Students, Transforming Communities.”

Its mission is to empower young people to pursue higher education, while its vision is to see every child, regardless of circumstance, equipped to make a positive impact on their community and the world. The Foundation promotes academic excellence, structured mentorship, access to resources and encouragement for students to further their education and careers.

The second was part of the event was the Annual Educational Awards Program 2025, which celebrated Junior High School graduates who excelled in the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Together, these two milestones highlighted the Foundation’s mission to mentor, guide and provide supports for young people to shape a brighter future.

The Annual Educational Awards Program celebrates the hard work and resilience of Junior High School students in Agona Odoben. In its maiden edition, twelve schools took part, with outstanding students rewarded with certificates, medals and cash prizes, and an inspiring moment of pride for the entire community.

He received a medal, a certificate, and a cash prize of GH₵2,000. The prize money was presented as a support fund to aid his continued education, a gesture that reinforced the Foundation’s commitment to empowering young learners. These awards are not just prizes; they are investments in the future of our young people, who will one day lead and change their communities,” he said.

As keynote speaker and chairperson, Mr. Seth Emmanuel Panwum, District Director of Education for the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa, also praised the initiative and reminded students to remain disciplined and focused.

In addition, Mr. Ebenezer Kodwo Nyarkoh, the District Examination Coordinator, stressed the importance of making education accessible to all children in the community. He said, “Education must be accessible to empower the youths. Every child, regardless of its background, deserves a fair chance to learn, grow and succeed. That is why I fully support the Serasa Foundation and its vision.”

Speaking on the role of child and youth development, Mr. Christain Kofi Duah, Project Director of the New Faith Baptist Child and Youth Development Centre, reminded us that education must go beyond academics. Through mentorship, life skills and values, students can discover their voice, build courage and inspire change in their communities. “Every child holds the seed of transformation but it takes nurturing to help them grow into leaders”.

Behind the scenes, the successful organization of the event was made possible through the leadership and teamwork of the Serasa Foundation’s executive team, working hand in hand with the wider community. Mr. Arthur Michael, Programs Manager of the Foundation, supported by Amina Akua Boahemaa, Protocol Lead, Jackline Odei, Secretary and Mr. Kobina Atta, Operations Lead, spearheaded the planning.

Their combined effort ensured that the event was not only well structured but also inspiring for all who attended.
