Prince of Africa Inspires with New Single “Love What You Got” — A Message of Gratitude and Hope

Emmanuel Upoji, popularly known by his stage name Prince of Africa, is making waves across the African music scene with his new single, “Love What You Got”. The Nigerian-born musician, originally from Benue State and currently based in South Africa, has been steadily building a name for himself through hard work, resilience, and a passion for spreading positivity through music.

Having been in the industry since 2009, Prince of Africa’s journey is one of persistence and faith. His story reflects the reality of many independent musicians striving to break through in a competitive world. “The truth is that it’s very hard to get recognition if you don’t know anyone out there to connect you to the right people,” he admits. “But one thing for sure is that you keep pushing until the universe hears you.”

Prince of Africa first gained prominence as a member of HKS, a group he co-founded in 2015 with two fellow musicians one from South Africa and another from Zimbabwe. The group went on to achieve remarkable success, earning a total of 14 awards, including multiple wins at the International Stars Awards in Ghana and the South African Upcoming Musicians Awards. Their hit song “Zibonakalise” featuring Mawhoo earned several accolades, including Best International Act, Popular Song of the Year, and Artist of the Year in 2023.

After nearly a decade of collaboration, HKS amicably disbanded in 2024, allowing each member to explore solo ambitions. In April 2025, Prince of Africa officially launched his solo career, establishing his own record label, E and N Records, just two months later.

His debut solo single, “Love What You Got,” released on September 7, 2025, marks a new chapter in his musical journey. Produced by South African DJ and producer Poloko Zola, known as Peekay Mzee, the song carries a timeless message about gratitude, contentment, and faith.
“The inspiration behind Love What You Got is that people don’t actually appreciate what they have or what they got, not knowing that what they have at hand is golden,” Prince of Africa explained. “As soon as you can appreciate what you have, soon will come — and so will God’s blessings.”

The song’s positive message has already begun to reach new heights. Prince of Africa recently received confirmation, along with a video message, that “Love What You Got” will be used throughout the 48 Hours Movie Competition 2025 by Ringa Films Production, a major milestone that affirms his growing influence in the creative industry.

The song is the lead single from his upcoming EP, set to drop in early 2026, and will be followed by another release, “God Give Me Time” featuring Kaytah, on October 18, 2025.

Beyond music, Prince of Africa is deeply committed to community service and black empowerment. He supports the Ikemeleng Foundation in Diepsloot, South Africa, donating shoes, clothes, and food to children in need. His charitable works earned him a Certificate of Appreciation and a Volunteer Appointment from the foundation in May 2025. He continues to organize visits to schools and orphanages, including an upcoming outreach to Laezonia Primary School on October 14, in collaboration with Ikemeleng Foundation and supportive friends and family.

Looking ahead, Prince of Africa envisions expanding his impact through fashion and mentorship. He plans to launch a clothing line under the name P.O.A and use his record label to nurture emerging talents. “I would like to help upcoming artists who are talented and would like to record their own songs,” he said. “It can only come from God.”

To his fans, his message remains clear and powerful: “You must not give up on anything you believe in. Keep pushing your dreams, focus on your goals, and remember — you are not in competition with anyone. Go make it make sense and love what you got.”
