This philosophy is deeply reflected in her leadership at Accra Metropolitan University, where human development, leadership training, and relationship building are central to the learning process. As the founding president of Accra Met, Prof. Goski Alabi has led the institution with a progressive vision to redefine higher education in Ghana one that is open, inclusive, flexible, and aligned with the real world needs of today’s learners.

Accra Metropolitan University is an open university, which means it is committed to providing accessible and flexible learning opportunities to a diverse population of students. The open university model removes traditional barriers to education such as rigid entry requirements, limited classroom space, and fixed schedules. At Accra Met, learners from all walks of life working professionals, adult learners, entrepreneurs, and recent high school graduates can pursue higher education on their own terms.

The university offers a variety of delivery modes, including evening and weekend classes, virtual learning, and blended programs that combine online and in-person experiences. This makes it especially attractive to students who are juggling work, family, or business responsibilities but still want to advance their education and career prospects. In doing so, Accra Met is helping democratize education and empower more Ghanaians to reach their potential.

Through seminars, partnerships, and student-led initiatives, learners are encouraged to engage with real societal challenges and develop solutions. This reflects her belief that education must go beyond the classroom to make a lasting impact.

Beyond the university, Prof. Goski Alabi continues to be a powerful voice for leadership development, women’s empowerment, and youth mentorship in Ghana and across Africa.

“We Need to Empower Young Boys to Complement Empowered Girls” — Blogger Nathaniel Quaye Speaks

Published

on

Blogger Nathaniel Quaye has called for urgent and intentional efforts to empower young boys, stressing that their development is just as critical to building a balanced and safe society. Speaking on AIT TV during a newspaper review segment with Nana Ama Agyiri, he highlighted the growing need to raise responsible and emotionally aware boys who can grow into respectful and supportive men.

His comments were prompted by a disturbing newspaper report about a four-year-old girl who was assaulted and tragically lost her life, an incident that has reignited national conversations around values, upbringing, and societal responsibility. Nathaniel Quaye noted that while significant strides have been made in empowering girls, there must also be a deliberate focus on shaping boys to understand accountability, respect, and empathy from an early age.

Referencing the advocacy of Kobby Kyei and his “Boys Lives Matter Too” campaign, Nathaniel Quaye emphasized that empowering boys should not be seen as competing with efforts to uplift girls. Rather, he explained, it is about creating a necessary balance. According to him, when boys are raised right, they grow into men who can complement empowered women, contributing to healthier relationships, safer communities, and a more progressive society.
