Nee Oseye Ade Leke Wins Highlife Artiste of the Year at Ghana Music Awards USA 2026

Versatile Ghanaian artiste Nee Oseye Ade Leke has been crowned Highlife Artiste of the Year at the just-ended Ghana Music Awards USA 2026, marking another significant milestone in his growing career.

The award comes on the back of a remarkable year for the artiste, whose single “Babalomia” has enjoyed widespread reception and emerged as one of his signature songs during the year under review.

“Babalomia” has also gained considerable visibility on TikTok, attracting thousands of creators who have embraced the song and produced content around it. Among those who have contributed to the song’s growing popularity is Bridget Enipa Bonyah, popularly known as EBAKUZ BEB on TikTok. An Nzema by ethnicity, EBAKUZ BEB has particularly attracted attention for her ability to sing along to the Ga-language song, further demonstrating the song’s ability to transcend cultural and linguistic boundaries.

Speaking about his latest achievement, Nee Oseye Ade Leke expressed his gratitude to the organisers of the Ghana Music Awards USA, as well as media practitioners, fans, colleagues and everyone who has consistently supported his musical journey.

William Lamptey named among Africa Monologue Challenge top 12 finalists

Ghanaian actor William Lamptey has secured a place among the top 12 finalists of the Africa Monologue Challenge, earning recognition for Ghana in a continental acting competition that has attracted thousands of participants from Africa and the diaspora.

William Lamptey, who has become known to Ghanaian audiences through his work in film and television, advanced to the final 12 after competing against more than 20,000 participants worldwide.

His achievement adds another significant milestone to a growing acting career that has seen him take on roles across film, television and theatre.

William Lamptey is particularly recognised for his appearance in the popular Ghanaian youth television series YOLO, where he joined the cast in its fifth season. He has also built a film portfolio that includes the internationally recognised feature film The Fisherman.

In The Fisherman, Lamptey plays Kobina, one of three young friends who join the central character on a journey to pursue their dream of securing a boat. The film, directed by Zoey Martinson, premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival and became Ghana’s first official selection for the prestigious festival.

The film has gone on to receive considerable international attention, with Lamptey’s performance contributing to his growing profile as an actor. He was also nominated for Discovery of the Year at the 2026 Ghana Movie Awards for his performance in The Fisherman.

Beyond The Fisherman and YOLO, Lamptey has appeared in productions including On February 14, where he played Travis, as well as The Queen of Akra trilogy. He has also featured in the film The Purse and the upcoming drama Little Lady.

His work extends beyond screen acting. Lamptey has also participated in theatre productions including Accra We Dey, Ghana Must Go, Potholes and Osofo’s Wahala, demonstrating his versatility across different forms of performance.

The Africa Monologue Challenge now presents another opportunity for the actor to demonstrate his range on a wider platform.
