Fancy Dress Street Carnival Celebration

I used to call it Fantin Dress instead of Fancy Dress lol…. while i was kid in the

Fante village of Abeadzi Dominase in Cape Coast.

Fancy Dress is a street carnival celebrated every Christmas and Easter there on.

A couple of youngsters form groups
putting on scary face mask and a colourful fancy fabrics sawed in a very beautiful

and fashionable way.

This culture has been in existence in many fante towns and the most dominate Region and cities in Ghana.

The Western Region is popularly know for this festival and they call it Fancy ”Anchors”.

A group of band comes together to have their celebration on 25th December.

Stanly Nana Ashunzy is the leader of a major known group called Vision Fancy Club,

plays a leading role in this Fancy street carnival with their bands.

Takoradi also have theirs popularly known as Made in Taadi which has become the major

event usually hosted by Kofi Kinaata whilst other towns like Tarkwa also host theirs.

This street carnival in groups with their colourful fancy dress and scary masks
comes together to play and dance on the street and a lot of many activities are being performed.

The recent Fancy Dress street carnival celebration was never a dull moment.

Abankese Music Festival 2024: Kwaw Kese Headlines Star-Studded Lineup

Get ready for an unforgettable night of music and entertainment as the Abankese Music Festival returns for its third edition on Friday, December 27th, 2024.

This year’s festival promises to be the most electrifying yet, with multiple-award-winning Ghanaian Hiplife/HipHop artiste Kwaw Kese headlining an impressive lineup of performers.

Organized by Blow Music in collaboration with Abankese Foundation, the Abankese Music Festival is an annual celebration of music, arts, and culture, showcasing the best talents from the Central Region and beyond.

Previous editions have featured thrilling performances by legendary artists such as Tinny, Yaa Pono, Black Prophet, and Aka Blay

This year’s festival boasts an exciting lineup of over 20 artists, including Keche, Orkortor Perry, Ama Nova, No Nation Gang, Roy X Taylor, Jahdone Ratty, Flamingo, Minab, Don Prophecy, and many more.

The night will be hosted by Don Stagad and Quecy Official, with back-to-back music mixes by DJ Tunechi and DJ Vibes from South Africa.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Chapel Square in Cape Coast, the Central Regional capital, from 7:00 PM onwards.
