Former Student of Kwanyako SHS, Mrs Janet Odei Paintsil Nominated as DCE for Agona East District

Published

His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated Miss Janet Odei Paintsil as the District Chief Executive for Agona East District Assembly.

JANET ODEI PAINTSIL, DCE Nominee, Agona East District

Mrs Janet Odei Painstil is a former student of Kwanyako Senior High Technical School in the Agona East District and an Alumna of the University of Education, Winneba where she had her Degree.

She is a professional teacher and a hardworking Assembly member for Ahoroso/Odumase in the Agona East District.

This happens to be the second DCE nominee for Agona East District as a result of the first DCE Nominee, Mrs Hannah Asamoah’s inability to secure 50% of the confirmation votes from Assembly Members hence suffered a total rejection.

On Friday, 1st October, 2021, the former DCE Nominee, Miss Hannah Asamoah was rejected by the Agona East Assembly Members. This occurred when 10 Assembly members voted in favour for her while a majority of 20 voted against her during the confirmation process hence secured less than 50% (percent) of the total votes cast of 30.

With regards to this outcome, there was the need for the President of the Republic to nominate a new DCE for the District in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Government Act 936 (amended).

Sintim Media confirms this new nomination in an official letter signed by the Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development Minister, Hon. Daniel Botwe which instructs  the Central Regional Minister and the Regional Coordinating Council to liaise with the Regional Electoral Commission to conduct an election for her confirmation.

He emphasized that true institutional excellence is not accidental but a product of consistent values and disciplined leadership.

He shared profound words that resonated deeply with the audience:
“Vision must meet integrity; hard work must meet teamwork.”
According to him, these guiding principles shaped the culture, strategy, and achievements of UPSA during his tenure and continue to serve as pillars for sustainable growth in any institution.

Prof. Alabi also expressed gratitude to the governing council, faculty, alumni, and students whose collective efforts fueled the university’s historic rise. He further dedicated the honor to all educational leaders committed to innovation, ethical leadership, and youth development.

As Founder of Accra Metropolitan University, Prof. Alabi’s recognition at UPSA serves not only as a personal achievement but also as a national acknowledgment of his decades-long commitment to quality education, good governance, and transformational leadership in Ghana and across Africa.
