Are PR Professionals Building Brands or Fueling Rivalries? – Blogger Nathaniel Quaye Quizzes

Published

on

Blogger Nathaniel Quaye has raised concerns about the evolving role of public relations professionals, urging a return to the core principles that define the practice. According to him, PR should remain focused on promoting artistes and brands with clarity, consistency, and credibility, rather than being used as a tool to spark unnecessary comparisons and rivalries. He stresses that the responsibility of a PR professional is to build a strong, lasting image rooted in facts and professionalism.

The blogger observes that in recent times, some PR strategies have shifted toward creating subtle tensions between artistes, often positioning one success against another to generate attention.

“We should be very objective. The fact that you work with Artist A doesn’t mean you should hate Artist B. Your integrity and your love for the industry should always come first not compromised for mediocrity or momentary hype.”

He believes that while such tactics may bring short-term visibility, they ultimately undermine the integrity of the profession. True professionalism, he maintains, lies in elevating one’s client without discrediting others, emphasizing that working with one artiste should not translate into hostility toward another.

He further highlights that reputation remains the most valuable currency in public relations, built through discipline, objectivity, and ethical conduct. Neutrality, he notes, is not a weakness but a strength that allows professionals to stay focused on their mandate and deliver results based on merit. Blogger Nathaniel Quaye questioning whether PR practitioners are genuinely building sustainable brands or simply fueling rivalries for momentary hype, urging the industry to choose integrity over noise.
