Some Ghanaians Engross To Fast Food Music — Takum

One of the fastest growing HipLife, HipPop and Afrobeat artiste hailing from Assin District in Central Region born Fred Baffour Asare known as Takum believes that some Ghanaians enjoy ample airplay music but with only short lifespan.

Speaking in a interview with De Greenman host of Max Morning Dew on Max 89.7 FM, Takum stated that “ Some Ghanaian music consumers engross to fast food music rather than ones that will last forever.

Knowing with his writing abilities and lyrical dexterity, the Gogetters boss forsee the longevity of his craft and would therefore prefer to write songs that will resonate and have positive influence on music listeners than to chase for trends.

In addition, Takum therefore made an appeal to all the industry gatekeepers to also engage the underground artistes to showcase what they have in them by projecting and plugging them on bigger platforms.

Ghanaian musician Nee Oseye Ade Leke has been honoured at the 2026 Sankofa African Network Impact Awards and Gala for his three decades of contribution to music, creative expression and community service.

The veteran artiste was recognised at the ceremony held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Divine Word Event Place in Woodbridge, Virginia, where individuals and groups making notable contributions to the African community were celebrated.

Organised by the Virginia-based Sankofa African Network, the annual Sania Awards and Gala seeks to celebrate leadership, creativity, service and community impact while strengthening connections among Africans and the wider African diaspora.

For Nee Oseye Ade Leke , the recognition adds another chapter to a career that has spanned about three decades and has been closely connected to Ghanaian and Ga-Dangme
cultural expression.

He has built a reputation around music that draws from African rhythms, highlife and contemporary sounds while maintaining a connection to his cultural roots. His catalogue includes songs such as “Ootse Ntsui”, “Why”, “Babalomia”, “Hello Sunshine” and “Call Am for Me”. His music is available across major streaming platforms, with “Babalomia” emerging as one of his most recognised recent releases.

His commitment to Ga-Dangme music has also been evident in his recent work. In May 2026, he released “I Dey Think About You”, a collaboration with Red Eye Nature. The song is a recreated version of a classic originally performed by Lonely Lamptey and the African Stars, and was presented as an effort to reconnect younger audiences with Ghana’s musical heritage.

The artiste’s recent awards run has further highlighted his continued relevance in the music industry. In August 2026, he was named Highlife Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards USA 2026. His song “Babalomia” was also nominated for Highlife Song of the Year and Best International Collaboration, the latter for his collaboration with Skrewfaze.

The Highlife Artiste of the Year recognition follows his 2024 success at the Ghana Music Awards USA, where he was crowned Male Artiste of the Year.

His presence has also extended into Ghanaian music award circuits in the diaspora. He was listed among nominees for categories including Best Diaspora Highlife Artist of the Year and Best Diaspora Hiplife-Pop Artist of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards Europe.

Beyond the awards, Nee Oseye Ade Leke’s recent releases show an artiste continuing to explore contemporary music while preserving elements of Ghanaian cultural identity. His recognition at the Sania Awards therefore places emphasis not only on his music but also on the broader impact of his three decades of creative work and community service.

The honour in Virginia adds to a growing list of recognitions for an artiste whose career continues to connect Ghanaian music, culture and the African diaspora.
