A distinguished delegation from Accra Metropolitan University (Accra Met), led by the esteemed academic and university president Professor Mrs. Goski Alabi, paid a courtesy call on the traditional leadership of Nungua, where they presented 20 educational scholarships to Nuumo Gborbu Wulomo-Shitse, the High Priest of the Gadangme State, and his Council of Elders.

This visit forms part of Accra Met’s ongoing commitment to inclusive education, cultural engagement, and community empowerment, with a specific focus on empowering the people of Nungua. This milestone comes shortly after the institution’s transformation from Laweh University College to Accra Metropolitan University, following the receipt of a Presidential Charter. This recognition grants the university full autonomy to award its own degrees and diplomas, positioning it as a key institution committed to advancing education and development within the Gadangme State.

In her remarks, Professor Goski Alabi reiterated the university’s vision of nurturing graduates who are not only academically competent but also deeply connected to African values and cultural heritage. She emphasized the importance of traditional institutions in national development and noted that the scholarships represent Accra Met’s strategic effort to strengthen education among the youth of Nungua.

She also acknowledged five students of Gadangme origin who have successfully completed their studies at Accra Metropolitan University, with one currently retained as a lecturer.

He also praised the university’s respect for tradition and efforts to integrate modern education with indigenous values.

The presentation ceremony, held at the sacred seat of the Nungua Traditional Council, featured traditional rites a symbolic blessing for the university. Prayers were also offered for the continued growth and success of the institution.

Members of the Accra Met delegation included senior faculty and administrative staff, all of whom reaffirmed the university’s dedication to providing accessible, community-focused education that aligns with the aspirations of the Gadangme people.
