In a touching display of humility and recognition, Black Stars and Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has been presented with a brand-new Hyundai Elantra by businessman and philanthropist Alhaji Seidu Agongo. This generous gift comes after a viral video captured the goalkeeper riding in a public minibus, commonly known as a trotro, striking a chord with many due to his grounded nature.
The video, which surfaced last month, showed Asare seated quietly in the front seat of a trotro, dressed simply with a backpack. The sight of a national football star using public transport resonated deeply with Ghanaians, highlighting his humility despite his fame.
The video quickly went viral, leading many to appreciate his down to earth personality.
Moved by Asare’s humility, Alhaji Seidu Agongo, CEO of Class Media Group, decided to honor the goalkeeper’s character with a meaningful gift. On Wednesday morning, during a brief ceremony in Accra, Agongo presented Asare with the keys to a Hyundai Elantra, a vehicle that symbolizes not just material reward but also recognition for a great leader both on and off the field.
Asare, visibly moved by the gesture, expressed his gratitude:

“I thank all the supporters of Hearts of Oak and everyone. It is incredible for such a lovely gesture to be extended to someone like me.”
Beyond his off-field humility, Benjamin Asare has been a standout performer for both Hearts of Oak and the Black Stars. His stellar performances in the Ghana Premier League have earned him praise from fans and coaches alike.

Asare’s consistency in goal played a crucial role in securing the Black Stars’ victories in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against teams like Chad and Madagascar, where he kept clean sheets. His tireless dedication on the pitch was also acknowledged by his coach at Hearts of Oak, Aboubakar Ouattara, who said:
“I’ll tell Asare to utilize the car well. He should bear in mind that it was his abilities on the pitch that earned him this prize.”

The gift of a Hyundai Elantra is not just about the car itself; it is a symbol of Asare’s commitment to his career, his humility, and the recognition that true success goes beyond talent. The car is a reminder that hard work, integrity, and loyalty to one’s team and country will always be recognized.
Benjamin Asare’s journey is a powerful testament to the importance of humility and dedication. From riding a trotro to receiving a generous car gift, Asare remains grounded, inspiring countless Ghanaians both on and off the field. His story reinforces the belief that with the right attitude and perseverance, success will follow both in football and in life.
