US Ambassador to Ghana Invited by Prof Peter Appiahene to attend 4th Edition of UENR Tech Fair

As a distinguished member of Ghana’s Electoral Commission and an Associate Professor at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Prof Peter Appiahene recently paid a courtesy call on the U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Virginia Evelyn Palmer.

Prof Peter Appiahene as a Senior and formal Council member of UENR, the meeting also served as an opportunity to strengthen academic and diplomatic ties while highlighting key Technology initiatives at University of Energy and Natural Resources – UENR.

He also highlighted his dual roles in academia and national service, emphasizing his commitment to enhancing electoral integrity and fostering transparency in Ghana’s democratic processes.

Prof Peter Appiahene also extended a formal invitation to H.E. Palmer to attend the 4th Edition of the UENR Tech Fair, scheduled for July 2025. He emphasized the event’s importance in driving technological advancement and its potential for enhancing Ghana-U.S. relations through shared knowledge and partnerships.

Ambassador Palmer on her part commended Prof. Appiahene’s contributions to Ghana’s democracy especially in the just ended 2024 general Elections and academia, reiterating the U.S.’s support for initiatives that promote good governance, educational excellence, and sustainable development in Ghana.

“Systems and Policies Alone Don’t Drive Change”— Prof Goski Alabi

Professor Goski Alabi has reminded leaders and institutions that true transformation begins with mindset. Speaking at the 2025 Ghana 100 Trailblazer Awards, she said,

“Systems and policies, without the right attitude and mindset, don’t promote change.”

She made the statement while addressing the theme of the event, encouraging individuals to adopt the right mindset in order to drive meaningful progress. Her words resonated with an audience of high-level professionals, policymakers, and innovators gathered on Friday, 11 July 2025, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.

Later in the evening, Professor Alabi, ag. Vice-Chancellor of Accra Metropolitan University was honored as a Special Guest and Awardee. She was recognized for her pioneering work in tertiary education, particularly her leadership in expanding Open and Distance Learning through Ghana’s first accredited open university, which she co-founded.

The Ghana 100 Trailblazer Awards, organized by The Business Executive Group, celebrate individuals who are redefining excellence in fields including business, public service, education, gospel music, and broadcasting.
