Isaac Dogboe loses in the WBO Featherweight title fight against Robeisy Ramirez

Ghana’s Isaac Dogboe fell short in his attempt to become a two-division world champion, losing the WBO Featherweight world title fight to Cuban Robeisy Ramirez.

Dogboe was never in control of the fight after being rocked by Ramirez in the early rounds before the Cuban dictated the tempo of a highly competitive fight in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the early hours of Sunday.

After 12 rounds of gruelling action, The 2012 and 2016 Olympic Gold medalist for Cuba accomplished the feat in a twelve-round, unanimous decision victory over former WBO junior featherweight titlist Isaac Dogboe. Scores were 119-108, 118-109 and 117-110 for Ramirez, who claimed the vacant WBO featherweight title.

The first sign of a long night in store for Dogboe came midway through round two. Ramirez landed a left hand around the high and tight guard of Dogboe, later followed by a left uppercut at close quarters. Dogboe was visibly affected by the shot, missing wildly with a reactionary right hand after which he wisely clinched to avoid further punishment.

Jordan Ayew’s Two Goals Fail to Secure Victory for Ghana

In a stunning turn of the final AFCON Group fixture, Ghana faced a heartbreaking setback in their final Group B encounter, surrendering a comfortable two-goal lead to settle for a 2-2 draw.

The Black Stars, initially in control with a pair of penalty kicks converted by Jordan Ayew, found themselves on the brink of elimination as their opponents mounted a late comeback.

Ghana’s hopes soared when Jordan Ayew confidently netted two penalties, seemingly guiding his team to their first triumph in the tournament.

However,  it was short-lived as Geny Catamo and Reinildo orchestrated a remarkable comeback, dashing Ghana’s aspirations of securing all three crucial points.

The late-game collapse now places them in a position, raising doubts about their advancement in the competition.
