Helping Hand Global Incorporated has renovated classrooms, a kitchen, a playground and an ICT laboratory at the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Peniel Nursery in Teshie, Accra, as part of an initiative to improve the learning environment for pupils.
The project was undertaken in honour of the organisation’s late father and its founding leaders, celebrating their legacy through an initiative aimed at supporting education and creating a better environment for young learners.
Speaking about the project, Nona Mensah, founder and president of Helping Hand Global Incorporated, expressed happiness at the successful completion of the initiative and thanked everyone who contributed to making it possible.
She described the project as a source of joy and fulfilment, emphasising that giving comes from the heart and that people can make a meaningful difference regardless of the resources available to them.
According to her, although funding remains a major challenge for the organisation, it should not discourage individuals from supporting their communities.
She encouraged people to start with whatever they have, noting that impactful projects do not always require substantial financial resources at the beginning.
“You do not have to build a school if you do not have the means to. Start with the little things, and with time, great things can be achieved,” she said.
Nona Mensah reiterated the importance of collective effort, expressing appreciation to all individuals who supported the renovation project and helped turn the vision into reality.
The headmistress of Peniel Nursery, Leticia Oble Mensah, also expressed gratitude to Helping Hand Global Incorporated for the intervention, describing it as a valuable contribution to the school.
She appealed to individuals and organisations to support the institution as it continues to work towards providing a conducive learning environment for its pupils.
Among the school’s outstanding needs, she identified a television as an important item that would support teaching and learning. She therefore called on potential donors to assist the school in acquiring one.
Mrs Naomi Akita-Enos, Greater Accra Regional Coordinator of Helping Hand Global Incorporated, highlighted the positive impact of the project on the Teshie community and called for greater recognition of the community’s positive contributions to society.

She noted that Teshie had recently featured in the news for negative reasons but stressed that such reports did not reflect the full story of the community, which is also home to responsible citizens and accomplished leaders.
According to her, the community has a strong tradition of discipline and collective responsibility, with residents often taking an active role in correcting the behaviour of young people.
She expressed hope that more positive stories about Teshie, particularly those highlighting community development, education and humanitarian work, would receive greater attention in the media.
Mrs Akita-Enos further called on residents to embrace initiatives that promote the community’s good name and demonstrate its commitment to progress.
She said the organisation hoped to see more positive news about Teshie, including the work being done by Helping Hand Global Incorporated to improve lives and support local institutions.
The renovation of Peniel Nursery underscores the role of community-based initiatives and philanthropy in supporting education and improving school facilities.
Through the project, Helping Hand Global Incorporated has demonstrated how collective contributions, guided by a commitment to service, can help create a more supportive environment for children to learn and develop.
The organisation’s intervention also serves as a reminder that meaningful community development can begin with small acts of generosity, which, when sustained through collective effort, can produce lasting benefits.
