THE THEOREMS OF THE WORLD ORAL HEALTH DAY
World Oral Health Day is marked annually on 20th March, to raise awareness on the importance of oral health.
On this day, the world unites to help reduce the burden of oral diseases, which affect individuals, health systems and economies everywhere.
Its purpose is to empower people with the knowledge, tools and confidence to secure good oral health.
Based on this celebration, a Dental Nurse from the Faith Mission Hospital, Patience Gbese , revealed in an interview on Kantanka Tv’s Morning Show , Fontonfrom that, a lot of people try to deceive themselves by saying they do not take in foods that contain sugar but then there is a probability of getting the tooth decay in the sense that, many are the things we take in without sugar but go a long way to become sugar as an end product in the stomach where if the teeth is not treated well the bacterias in the mouth will act on it at night to destroy the enamel to cause tooth decay.
She continued that, taking off a teeth in case of a decay is not the only option because they can treat it for the teeth to get back to it’s normal state but perhaps, the teeth is taken off only when patients insist.
“Under normal circumstance, every tom, dick and harry is supposed to visit the dental clinic every six (6) months to check up on the teeth lest something is being done quick before it gets out of hand”. She advised.
Nevertheless, the dental nurse went on by saying it is necessary for everyone to use either a soft bristle brush or medium bristle brush because the hard ones leaves cut and scratches the teeth instead, the soft ones are able to burn and clean in between the interdental spaces and keeps the teeth very neat and clean.
To emphasise her words, she spoke about the fact that , most people prefer the harder brushes to the soft ones since those ones are cheaper but the soft or medium ones are quite expensive and been sold in supermarkets or other big pharmacies.
“And please let’s try and take our time to brush with soft or medium bristle brushes because the harder ones can cause huge problems to our teeth .”she indicated.
