In an article expressing their reasons, they wrote;

NO AIRPORT NO VOTE! NO AIRPORT NO VOTE! NO AIRPORT NO VOTE!!!

S3 Oman no b3y3 yie a na ofir y3n ara!

I believe that we are leaders of our own destiny. We have a choice. If we take charge of our problems, we succeed. If we run away from our problems, we run away from our destiny. We can only succeed by challenging them.

Now our challenge is bringing development to Cape Coast and an airport to Cape Coast is the birth of a new form of development. As a child growing up in cape coast, I remember walking down Kotokuraba road and hearing the history of all the great schools built in Cape Coast.

I remember seeing the Cape Coast Castle and Elmina and hearing about Cape Coast being the first Capital. I remember also hearing that Kwame Nkrumah built the University of Cape Coast and Ghana National because he had a vision for Ghana and part of his vision was creating an Airport for Cape Coast before he was overthrown. This revealed to me that there was a greater vision for Cape Coast. It’s been almost 50 years since Nkrumah was overthrown and we still have not seen an airport nor have we seen substantive progress towards this airport.

We know that if we have a choice to shape the destiny of Cape Coast for the future of our children, we want to see the progress that Kwame Nkrumah envisioned for Cape Coast come to fruition. We want to see a better Cape Coast which also means a better Ghana.

An international airport will bring more jobs and businesses to Ghana through creating more jobs for those who work on infrastructure, engineering, service industry and hospitality management.

All of Ghana  can benefit from this endeavor that is why Kwame Nkrumah envisioned this project in the first place.

We have visitors coming to Cape Coast all the time but we see them commuting back and forth without investing in our city because Cape Coast has been neglected for too long. It is time we created an airport to propagate more investment in Cape Coast to bring more revenue and more development into this city.

I believe this movement is our choice to take charge of our own destiny and seek a better Ghana through a better Cape Coast. We can no longer sit down and watch Cape Coast have all of its talent move to other cities because there are no jobs and not much capital flowing through this city.

We want to be able to keep our children close to us instead of them migrating to other cities for greener pastures. And most importantly we want a better Ghana to start from Cape Coast, the nations first capital. It is where Ghana started and where progress and innovation should extend from to other parts of Ghana just as it was and has been since the turn of the century.

We can no longer watch our woes be ignored while you send your children to schools here for education and later leave to Accra. We want you to be able to lodge in Cape Coast and feel as comfortable here as you feel in Accra and other cities. It is our hope that you listen to us now rather than having to hear that we seize to participate in elections.

We are taking our destiny into our own hands and demanding Change NOW. Not later, not tomorrow, not next year but today because a better today leads to a better tomorrow.

We are not seeking anymore lies that will let us wait 50 years again for an airport. We are demanding an airport NOW. And if you doubt us let me tell you, we are more unified NOW THAN EVER. If you try to divide us you will see that CAPE COAST OGUAA we are together in the barrel and we are not leaving any of our brothers and sisters behind.

The sons and daughters of OGUAA have spoken and we need action not words. We need change not speeches and so we will show you how serious we are. Come Election Day we will not vote because we are tired of the neglect. We are more than frustrated. This time you won’t be neglecting us after Election Day. We will be neglecting you before and during Election Day if there’s no action.

We say NO AIRPORT NO VOTE. We demand action and only action shall get us to move to the polls. We are organized and ready. Let us know how you will address our demands.

Join our walk on 6th March, 2020

Let’s make history for Oguaa
